L'igloo is an exploration of material and its ambiguity. The facets that define its subtle variations in height carry light through its core, creating shifting reflections and tones. The idea comes from an architectural form extracted from a building in Saint-Étienne, which I studied from both a technical and poetic perspective. I begin with the building plans, then form extractions, followed by model-making, then drawing, and finally the creation of bases for the drawings which themselves are reinterpreted forms derived from the building. A kind of mental journey is shaped through these visual and material studies. This lamp becomes a plastic form connected to the building, a drifting extension of that mental journey, which itself will be the subject of a scenographic installation.
